Cystic Fibrosis
Cystic Fibrosis is a genetic disorder caused by 2 mutated CFTR genes in the 7th chromosome. CF affects the lungs, pancreas, and sinuses. CF may cause the lungs to fill with mucus which makes it harder to breathe or it may clog the pancreas which prevents digestive enzymes from getting to the stomach which can cause digestive issues. The sinuses may be affected also. What gets affected depends on the kind of mutation. There are many mutations in the CFTR Gene and they are all called CF but have unique designations and have their own symptoms or severity of symptoms. The Double Delta F-508 is one of those mutations that affects the lungs, sinuses, and pancreas.
